St. Francis of Assisi, gave up everything for God. He took the Gospel seriously, took humility and self sacrifice to a new level religiously, hence the Friars Minors, minor meaning they considered themselves the least. This minor friar made a huge impact in the Church.

I think you would love Assisi. It's a great place. When I was there, I was VERY sick, but it was still my favorite city in Italy that I visited. The Portuncula (sp) is there. THe one that Francis built. It is so tiny. You expect something small. But this was TINY. I was amazed that we could fit in it. lol.
